2019 Tre Anelli Diavolessa - Santa Barbara County
Once you try our “She-Devil”, you know exactly why it bears the name Diavolessa (the literal translation of she-devil in Italian). Bold and intense with gripping tannins, this blend offers a seductive marriage of dark black fruit and spice, wild acidity and complexity, and layers of flavor that evolve in intensity. Let this devilishly smooth blend bewitch your senses
With our first vintage in 2010 laying the groundwork for what would become a staple blend in our Tre Anelli wine portfolio, the blend does change slightly from year to year. The idea, however, remains constant - A bold and intense, gripping and seductive wine. This year, composed of Petite Sirah, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, and Barbera, the Diavolessa is a dominant red blend with rich, complex body and depth. The major grape Petite Sirah (60%) contributes bold dark fruit flavors such as blackberry and plum, along with a robust structure and firm tannins. Barbera (20%) adds bright acidity and cherry fruit notes, balancing the richness of the Petite Sirah. Sangiovese (10%) introduces a touch of tartness, with flavors of red berries and hints of spice. Nebbiolo (10%) lends its characteristic floral aroma, along with flavors of red fruit, tar, and earthiness.
